Outdoor Retail Hijinks - Evolv shoes pass TB test!

It is no secret that we don't have regular jobs. In fact, on the rare occasion that we sit down in front of a calendar and look at planning the months ahead, we always start with one question: "When is the Outdoor Retailer Show." These summer and winter trade shows feature all the coolest outdoor gear in the country, and are our teams only two "jobs" of the year. And they are not even really jobs, since we don't get paid, but they let us help out our wonderful sponsors and play with a bunch of outdoor junkies. Plus we get to oversee the wonderful Rejuvination Room that Prana creates.

So basically we teach 4 yoga classes a day (between all of us), walk around looking for free food samples, and think of ways to get into trouble.

Yesterday, we decided to see which climbing shoes on the market were the best. Instead of a typical climbing test (they all feel kinda the same on the wall) we invented a new test called the toe balance test. This will henceforth be known as the TB test (are there any other tests that TB could possibly refer to?!?) and I am sure it will be famous instantly. Try it - just google TB test and see how many links come up - 31 million - and I just invented it yesterday!

The TB test requires great skill, as two climbers must perform difficult and dangerous acrobatic
manauevers to determine the stickiness and edging capability of each shoe.

After many failed attempts with all brand of rock shoes (which led to a severly fat lip on Sam and crushed testicles on Jason) the Evolv shoes passed the test. They are clearly the only shoes that I will ever trust in situations that require extreme precision and balance. What requires such balance and precision? hmmm...maybe a sport like umm...hmmm....climbing?!?

Luckily for us, it just so happens that Evolv is one of our new sponsors. Good for us. If you are not so lucky, no fear, you can actually buy them for a very reasonable price.

We ended the day with more acro play and a great concert by Barefoot Truth - a great group of musicians that we like to call "Our Band."

I was going to go on and tell you all about today's amazing happenings, but my head is swimming with visions of Lynn Hill and Dean Potter flying (and not in a wing suit), as well as the most successful human powered musical achievement in history. But maybe I'll tell you tomorrow.

  1. Wow, this is unbelievable. I never knew you can do such things with climbing shoes. The photos look as if they were edited by photoshop. Good for you.
